Back in the kitchen...(virtually)

Last Sunday, I made a “virtual return to the kitchen” as part of the online Northern Food and Drink Festival.

Many of you will have seen that I returned to The Art School last week for the first time since we closed for lockdown. I was filled with mixed emotions on my return to the restaurant as I took the first practical steps on our journey to reopening. Of course, we still do not know when that will be and what guidelines we will need to observe, but when it does happen, we will be ready.

Our industry is slowly coming to terms with the challenges it faces, we are no different at the Art School as we consider the potential implications on the number of covers and days we may open. But we will be back.

Many of you have already taken advantage of our retail offering on our online shop as we’ve made a number of local deliveries. This has been a great source of comfort so thank you for all your support.

Last weekend, I swapped Sugnall Street for Askew Towers for a Live demonstration for The Northern Food & Drink Virtual Festival.

If you missed it, you can still watch the demonstration on Facebook.

Stay safe and I look forward to welcoming you back to the restaurant as soon as we are able to.

With love,
Chef Askew X

A toast to the best of this great country…

Gusbourne Wines

A real Art School favourite are the fantastic English wines from the Gusbourne Estate.

They are now offering a selection of their wines direct to you through their online store which you can visit following the link below. Please quote LIVARTS at the checkout.

They are a combination of the best age-old traditions with modern technology and cutting-edge equipment allows The Gusbourne Estate to sit comfortably between old and new world winemaking, while at the same time bringing their own exacting quality standards to the process. Respect for the vineyards, the fruit and the natural elements involved in winemaking means that their approach favours minimal intervention.

The original Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent dates back to 1410. The de Goosebourne family crest was made up of three geese and can be found in their local parish church in Appledore – nowadays, each and every bottle of wine crafted at Gusbourne carries a contemporary goose crest in honour of their heritage. This ‘Goosemark’ is a symbol of trust, representing their pursuit of uncompromising quality.

Sending love to our NHS workers…

As a gesture of our gratitude for their tireless work throughout this period in our lifetimes we will accompany any gift vouchers purchased for and redeemed by NHS workers with a complimentary bottle of wine from our multi-award winning Castorani wines collection.  A small token of our thanks from Chef Askew and the team.

Afternoon Tea using gift vouchers?
